- Whale Watching!! Watch whales from the comfort of the Inn...or take a whale watching charter onto the open seas to view these amazing creatures up close. Take a ride on one of the larger boats with Tradewinds or Dockside Charters. Or hop in the Zodiac with local whale researcher, Carrie Newell to learn all about our local whale population. Carrie is one of the foremost authorities on grey whales on the Oregon Coast, has been featured on PBS and has over 20 years of teaching and research experience. And make sure to stop in at the Whale Watching Center for information and assistance in spotting the whales and other wildlife.
- Storm Watching - The sun doesn't have to be shining to enjoy the Oregon Coast. Join us in the off season to witness the power of nature at work...huge waves and winds carving out the volcanic basalt of our rocky shoreline. See the Spouting Horn blowholes along the seawall where waves that run beneath the lava bed force air and spray up to 60 feet in the air!
- Fishing - Sail on a charter boat for deep-sea fishing action! Sign up with Tradewinds or Dockside Charters for larger groups, or hire Capt. Corie and her boat the Reel Nauti. Her 34 foot charter boat will take a maximum of 6 persons per trip. You can also rock, surf and river fish, or go clamming and crabbing in season (ask about using our crab cooker).
- Lighthouses, Beaches and Parks - Tour Yaquina Head and Yaquina Bay Lighthouses in Newport. Visit one of the more than 30 State Parks Lincoln County has to offer. Experience the miles and miles of pristine beaches- go tide pooling, beach combing, agate hunting, kite flying, build a sand castle, have a picnic...the possibilities and opportunities are endless!
- Shopping - Visit Depoe Bay’s charming shops and galleries, just a 10 minute walk from the Inn. Venture 10 miles north into Lincoln City and shop `til you drop at the Tanger Outlet Factory Stores, or 12 miles south to Newport and the quaint Nye Beach and Historic Bayfront areas.
- Food and Drink! - Visit one of the many fine restaurants Depoe Bay and the surrounding area has to offer. Some favorites: Tidal Raves, Gracie’s Sea Hag, Kernville Steakhouse, Blackfish Cafe, and Saffron Salmon.
- Wineries/Breweries/Coffee Roasters - We Northwesterners love our local wine, beer and coffee! Visit wineries like Flying Dutchman Winery on the coast, or venture into the valley for a day of winery tours. If it is beer you love, stop in at the Rogue Brewery in Newport for locally brewed beer (and great food, too!), or McMenamins Lighthouse Brewpub in Lincoln City. Get your daily latte fix, or pick up some freshly roasted coffee locally at Big Mountain Coffee or south towards Newport and Newport Bay Coffee Roasters.
- Outdoor Recreation/Wildlife Viewing - Enjoy one of the many scenic trails the area has to offer, like Drift Creek Falls Trail, Cascade Head Trail, or one of Three Capes Loop trails. Try surfing, kite-surfing or kayaking with your own equipment or stop in at Oregon Surf Shop for rentals and lessons. Watch the whales, harbor seals and sea lions, see bald eagles, blue herons, egrets, Canadian geese, and shorebirds too numerous to name! Make sure to leave time for a trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Hatfield Marine Science Center for a fun and interactive education on local and ocean wildlife. - Casino - Try your luck at Chinook Winds Casino located on the north end of Lincoln City, about 13 miles from the Inn.
- Tours - Take a day trip to a winery or just sightsee on the coast with a limo ride from Coastal Luxury Limos. If you'd like a different view of the coast, take to flight and try a helicopter tour from US Helicopters. For more information and local events, please visit: Depoe Bay Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce, or Newport Chamber of Commerce.

"You have created a gem. Your rooms are comfortable and inviting. I loved the extras. Curling up on the loveseat with the throw and watching the whales out our window. Priceless. Thank you."
